THE OG HEART [OHE.1]

THE ORIGINAL OPN HEART. This heart was painted in Sunnyside Queens on September 13th, 2017 as part of a mural that said ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. Originally painted as a normal heart, I thought it needed some edge so I added the black heart. I like the aesthetic, so I kept painting more colored hearts with black ones layered on top. It looks like a hole in the heart, but over time it evolved in my mind as space for more love. The hole was not a hole, but an opening ... room for more... more life, more love, more understanding, more acceptance. As my work evolved to focus on inclusiveness, love, kindness etc, the OPN HEART evolved as a motif that now screams OPEN YOUR HEART AND MAKE ROOM FOR MORE...View all
