The Invention of Oneself

Mixed media on vellum paper. Made with vintage 1960's-1970's magazines: adverts for cigarettes, life insurance and other products; a boarding pass for a 2021 flight to Vienna, Austria from Detroit, Michigan; cutouts from contemporary national and local newspapers; a fast food receipt; dried flowers (Baby's Breath); clearance and retail tags; packaging from a disposable nicotine device; snippets from modern fashion magazines; and acrylic paint. Scanned with a DSLR then color graded in Photoshop.
