Timing. Timing is everything when it comes to shooting surfers from the sky using a drone. Nailing the shot is not an easy thing to do with waves moving in one direction and the surfer another. Often waves will break in different places as well, so setting up in the right spot to get everything framed perfectly takes practice and intuition.
Shutter speed is a large factor in getting everything sharp and in focus, as well as many other fine tuned factors and tweaks that come from years of dedication perfecting this style of photography.
