Crossing the Fire

A 140 megapixel image of our sun, with a special guest, the International Space Station. This composite image was created by shooting the sun with two telescopes, one for white light, and one with special filters designed to show off the sun's turbulent atmosphere. The transit lasted less than a half second, so having the equipment timed perfectly was paramount. This is the clearest solar transit shot I've ever done.
