The never-ending and increasingly obscure referential reworkings of character as meme. Kaeru No Pepe Kitsuen translates to ‘Pepe the Frog Smoking.’ My version is inspired by a melding of traditional Japanese paper/scroll paintings and Crypto/NFT Art culture which seems to involve a LOT of smoking from what I hear for myself in Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces. I was also inspired by Japanese artist Mia and Russian Artist Artsiom Pronin. Both from different parts of the world and cultural backgrounds but their similarity is their incredible command of the brush.
