Petrokor were long the subject of mariner myth, huge steel islands with the form of a spider, rarely found in the same place twice. They slowly lumber along the continental shelf, occasionally stopping to extend a steel proboscis deep into the earth in search of oil deposits. It wasn't until the 19th Century that Schmryptologists were able to board one and analyze its internal workings. What resulted were the first internal combustion engines and eventually the first oil rigs.
