Scientists debate whether the recently rediscovered Schmrypepe represents a relict population or an atavistic phenotype. They very closely resemble fossil Schmryptoads, and their physiology and behavior may offer a window into Schmryptological prehistory. Unlike their morphologically modern cousins, they lack the ability to breathe fire, but their poison sacs are slightly more potent. They are also slightly larger and more robust. They seem drawn to the presence of Dopepedon, and have only been found in close proximity to the mighty beast.
