Grandiloquence (Cranium Interior), 2021

I started working on this at the beginning of the year, specifically with a potential generative project in mind. I wanted to create something completely lush which is a peek inside my cranium; full of components I love from birds and bugs to fruit and cakes and Deco patterns. An image as visually dense as possible, which also captured the essence of surrealism-inspired creators like Dali, Schiaparelli and Magritte. I did many progressive versions over months, to reach a point where I realized it was probably going to be impossible to spawn pieces randomly using generative code in a way that satisfied my exacting standard every time.
