The Tower

The river divides the great desert in two, its water feeds the towns to the south. At least it was like that until the great Industrial City dropped a Water Tower from the planet's orbit. This metal spear penetrates the ground and as a funnel swallows the entire riverbed, to evaporate the water and transport the steam back to the city. The peoples of the south have little chance to survive if the water does not reach them. It's time for someone to do something about it.
