Thanks to speed and convenience, they have turned our world into a global village and made its every corner accessible. In the last century airline travel was a matter of prestige, but today most people can afford a flight above the clouds. Passenger, transport, fire or military, subsonic or supersonic, the aircraft has fulfilled the human aspiration to fly. Modern technology allows us to get people and mail to their destinations by air in the shortest time. On 9th September 1991 Croatian Post established an airline route from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. To commemorate the occasion, the first Croatian postage stamp with the motif of a flying aircraft has been issued.
