Large, small, passenger, cargo, war, patrol, fishing boats, ferries and yachts sail the seas, rivers and lakes and until the invention of the railway in the 19th century were the only way to transport people and goods over long distances. Ships, like trains, were one of the first means of postal transport used to connect long distances. Back in the days, mail was transported by passenger ships in coastal areas and overseas. Even today, ships in Croatia and around the world, are used to deliver or send shipments between the mainland and the islands. In addition to being useful, they are often the motifs of stories and poems.
