Re-birth

L’amour rebelle explores sexuality and conflict by reimagining Georges Bizet’s classic opera Carmen. This loop shows the birth of sexuality, witnessed by Carmen. L’amour rebelle is the first-ever live opera NFT. Created by Leo Crane, Merav Eldan and Zachary Whitney, it premiered with a performance in Los Angeles on 29 March 2022. These loops, hand-drawn in charcoal, are from the award-winning film, which launched at the Oscar-qualifying Provincetown International Film Festival in June 2022.
