as black women we learn how to bend.
we are the backbone of humanity,
shifted and molded to reflect the world around us.
mother of mothers.
sister of sisters.
carrying
trauma in our smiles,
rhythm in our blood,
history in our hair,
legacy in our skin.
we are
the unsung heroes.
and although you may never
see us weep,
shake or quiver,
know that
we climbed mountains to get here -
and will break them
to bring
our sisters in.
