The Hedgehog’s Dilemma is a metaphor touching on how hedgehog’s need to huddle together for body heat but the spines on their body hurt those closest to them. When this concept is extended to humans we realize the our emotions are the same as the spines on the hedgehog’s body. The closer we get to others the more potential both sides have to hurt each other in deeper and deeper ways through the miscommunication of emotions and expectations. Realizing this its only natural to isolate and spare all involved this pain.
