"This gentleman was on his break from work. A few visitors had stopped for ice cream and could be easily overheard making jokes about him and the other citizens of Clown Town. When I asked why he and others persist with dressing like clowns against such common mockery and near persecution, he merely shrugged, and returned behind the counter to work."
