天狗 山伏の格好をしたとても古い妖怪であり山の神。語源は中国において凶事を知らせる流星のこと。日本での初出は720年の『日本書紀』。仏教と神道の融合によって生まれた山岳信仰である『修験道』において、魔界の一種として天狗道が作られた。大衆にも山地を異界として畏怖する風習が生まれ、そこでおきる怪奇を天狗の仕業と呼んだ。 Tengu is a very old yokai dressed as Yamabushi.
