Each of the artists in the P1×3L exhibition has pushed the boundaries of digital and generative art in their own ways. As a counterpoint to the stream of technology being developed to make itself invisible, these artists foreground the materiality of their medium. And at a time when online spaces for digital and generative art are at the highest energy in over 20 years, this group of artists, who committed themselves to these fields a decade ago, remain vibrant creators. Their past work has stood the tests of time and their current work pushes forward. —Casey Reas

Feral File #006 - P1x3L

In the long tradition of kinetic art and experimental film and video, p1xelfool&rsquo;s works contain a world within themselves. We might be looking at the inside of an atom or the birth of a simulated universe &mdash; the work leaves room for broad interpretation. There&rsquo;s enough within them to trigger recognition and association, but the lack of resolution creates space for mystery. In &ldquo;k.a9&rdquo; specifically, we experience two objects rotating around one another in an endless dance of forces in balance. This software is one of a pair of p1xelfool&rsquo;s first ever generative, live-code releases. We&rsquo;re thrilled to feature this new direction on Feral File.
