Waimakariri Falls hut is a hidden gem in Arthur’s pass National Park. It is truly a magical spot and takes two days of boulder hopping and scrambling to reach. We were rewarded with dramatic peaks, rising up on both sides of the valley, rich green forests and cascading waterfalls. The stream was fringed with clusters of buttercups and in the evening we had the company or rowdy Keas. I was so visually inspired by this place and excited to re-create my experience in visual form. Every time I look at this piece I can just hear the cascading waterfall in the chasm downstream and taste the pristine New Zealand alpine water from the brook.
