Maame Biney #13

At 18, American short-track speedskater Maame Biney was one of the youngest members to compete for Team USA and the 2018 Winter Olympics Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. When Biney swept the 500m short track races at the Winter Olympic trials that December, she became the first African-American woman to qualify for a U.S. speedskating Olympic team. Coming off the 2018 Winter Olympics, Biney dominated the competition in the 500-meter at the ISU World Junior Short Track Championship 2018 becoming the first U.S. woman to ever win a junior world title finishing in 44.305 seconds and breaking a junior world record.
