Among all the insects I’ve seen, Damselflies have the perfect Alien face with large eyes and facial structure that is triangular in shape. Damselfly in the wild is literally like a needle in a haystack. Damselflies are one of the hardest subjects to find and to shoot. They are simply hovering needles.
Face shot is even harder as only rare circumstances provide the opportunity to shoot it from below its perch without an obstruction. A small vibration can set it off and it will fly away.
I found this stunning damselfly perched on a long blade of grass by a stream and had the perfect opportunity to shoot from below. So I laid flat on the ground for this shot and fired some shots.
