"Gaia" 2020 | Tegallalang, Indonesia Edition: 1/1 On this day we were exploring the world famous rice terraces in Tegallalang. A friend took us up a trail with vistas overlooking a magnificent terrace. There was a small makeshift shelter up there, with a bare bed and small fire pit. We didn't think anything of it -- perhaps a temporary shelter for a local farmer. A bit lower down the trail this man appeared from the brush holding that large staff. He encountered us. He had an intensely calming presence. Without words, he bowed and smiled, welcoming us to his home. We realized this man lived in that shelter. We sat with him and listened to the forest.
