A Mother's Love by Lauren McDonagh-Pereira Hidden Owl Photography Horn Pond is a 102-acre public park in Woburn, Massachusetts, USA. A mating pair of mute swans has inhabited the area for years. In the spring, locals are often gifted with the joy of watching the swans raise their cygnets. I was lucky enough to create this image on May 7, 2016. I had been visiting the swans' nest daily, for weeks. I had watched as they built their nest, laid their eggs, and protected the eggs from the elements. On this morning, three of the six cygnets had hatched. I managed to capture the mother swan anxiously inspecting her remaining three eggs.
