Australian born Yasmin Shima is the artist and the founder behind Year of The Woman. Growing up in a family of artists, Yasmin has creativity in her blood. Whilst mostly self-taught, in February 2017 Yasmin took her first painting class in 20 years and hasn’t stopped since. She struggled financially to get recognition over the years since becoming an artist, taking freelance production work to help pay the bills. In 2019 just before the pandemic, she quit her production job to become a full-time artist.
