Born Arthur Simon Flegenheimer on August 6, 1901. Dutch Schultz was a Jewish-American mobster during the Depression era. Based primarily in the Bronx, New York, Schultz amassed a fortune in the bootlegging & numbers rackets of the 20’s & 30’s. Throughout the height of his career he found himself a primary target of famed New York City Prosecutor Thomas Dewey & simultaneously feuding with “The Commission” leader Lucky Luciano. At sometime in the mid 1930’s Schultz requested permission from the Commission to assassinate Dewey but the request was denied.
