THESE EYES WERE LOOKING AT ME MY WHOLE LIFE

"Das Mädchen mit Licht" was painted by Julie Wilhelmine Hagen-Schwarz my great-great-grandmother who as my grandparents always told me was "the other artistic person in our family". My grandparents died in February 2020 and my parents now own the original painting. They brought it to a museum together with other objects related to the artist Julie Hagen-Schwarz. The museum wants to own the pieces as in: buying them from my parents. The museum doesn't want to borrow the art and leave the rights of ownership with my parents.
