The Electric Genie was the first of my bioluminescent drawings. This approach of painting, with light against a black or dark surface, started years ago when I did a huge mural using fluorescent paint on a black wall in a pitch dark room. In that darkened space, the only thing I could see were the lines and shades of paint as they appeared on the surface of the wall. I felt like a disembodied consciousness offering imagination to an otherwise empty universe. It was an amazing creative experience watching the darkness evolve into a fantasy world of electric looking environments and characters.
