Xolotl, God of Life, Monsters and Misfortune, had eight children. Though they did not know it, each child stole and kept a piece of Xolotl for themselves.
The first of the children,
Formed on the day of Xolotls birth after Xolotl swallowed an emerald. Quetzal emerged from the flesh, leaving Xolotl half formed. Quetzal is considered the more beautiful of the two.
