Rainbow Descending a Staircase

1037 × 1267 | GIF Animation For this piece, I used a photograph one of my canvases, on which the studio staircase did cast a shadow. I converted it into a bitmap in order to create a binary image, each pixel either being black or white, which I separated into 2 layers. Then I put a layer of spectral light analysis between those layers, a prism. Finally, I animated a cartoon version of a rainbow, running down the shadow of the stairs, as the top layer. This work is an homage to Marcel Duchamp, a pioneer of modern art and one of my personal heroes.
