Frogsy Pepe takes on the BurntBanksy affair.
By burning on video an original work of art by Banksy and selling NFTs about it, BurntBanksy made over half a million dollars (approximately 10x times the value of the burnt artwork). But he also committed a federal crime, in violation of the Visual Artists Rights Act (the VARA law).
Is BurntBanksy a profit seeking vandal with no respect for the arts, or is he a modern version of De Kooning (the artist who famously erased an original drawing by Rauschenberg, nonetheless done with the permission of the artist)...?
