DIONISIO

Dionysus was said to be the god of enthusiasm. He had this power or ability to penetrate within the human being. The word enthusiasm (enthousiasmos) is composed of "En" and "Theos", that is, "God-in-Us", God when he enters oneself. Therefore Dionysus had the particularity of getting man to feel God within himself, not to think or imagine it, not to see an image or hear a name, but to feel totally transported by that possession of God. Dionysus entered human beings through song, dance and through instruments, words, recitation and rhythm, and in this way each person who participated in the ritual felt totally transported to a new experience, which was the experience of ecstasy.
