Photography, by definition, is the process of capturing images with light. It does not matter if you're using film or digital media; the concept is the same. Light is what makes a photograph work and a proper exposure is required to make a good photograph. But in my over exposed series. The capture is prolonged to absorb the light as it travels through the scene. No evidence of what is creating the light but all that it is with the evidence travelling through the air. Making the natural capture seem some what edited. But i assure you this was all one take, one camera and one chance of capturing the scene in this way.
