In Jay Delay’s latest autobiographical documentary photography series he has taken inspiration from Monet’s “Haystack” paintings but instead of brushstrokes he is applying pixels and instead of haystacks the subject is his very own trash can and its contents. Using a primitive Gameboy Camera to capture the transient effects of light as it gleams upon the toter and across the street onto the pavement.
In effect he has created a piece of time-lapse photography that is very much a live performance, similar to “In the beginning was the light” – the first 3 minutes are motionless, followed by the time lapse moments where the image is slowly improved, there is a lot of physicality and this is do...
