Selfie

The two women are inspired by a detail from “Apollo and the Two Muses” by Pompeo Battoni. I have painted them, or rather reconstructed them, in my own style. In contrast to the classical figures, the hand holding a cell phone is sketched in a haphazard doodle like fashion, creating a contrasting element. The tension between the two elements opens up vistas of new meaning.
