Supplied from the Estate of Gerald Laing, 'Self Portrait (Tear Gas Grenade)' was the artist's final painting in 2011, and has remained unexhibited until 2021. In his last few years, Laing turned his mind back to classical sculpture with several significant commissions for large bronze public works in London, as well as creating politically charged paintings about the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. He also revisited his Pop Art roots with the iconic muse, Amy Winehouse.
