Who is a Navka? In Eastern European mythology, this was the name of a mermaid. But they do not have a tail, as in popular fairy tales.
According to folk beliefs, Navkas live in the forest on tall trees near ponds, on which they like to sway both at night and during the day. Navkas try to hide their footprints on the bank, as they can dig over the sand and cover their tracks. In the pine forests there are often trees around which the grass does not grow: according to folk legend, mermaids lead round dances around these trees and trample circles.
