Here is my chalk drawing on concrete of an iconic Australian, the Koala.
Koalas are an Australian native mammal in the marsupial family. Bubs are called Joeys and live in mum's pouch for the first 6 months before going out into the world to try Eucalyptus leaves (which is the only food that they eat). The name Koala derives from the Aboriginal meaning of 'no drink', that's because almost all of the water a koala needs comes from the leaves they eat.
Due to land clearing, 80% of the koalas habitats have been cut down, making the koala a threatened species. With the addition of the bushfires in 2019/20, more than 60000 koalas were killed or harmed during the horrendous fires.
