Helen of Troy was born into a royal family in Greece. She was married off to King Menelaus of Sparta in an attempt to create a peaceful alliance between the two countries. However, her husband's political enemies, the Trojans, kidnapped her and took her back to their city. This caused a great war between Greece and Troy which Helen's former husband led. After ten years of fighting, the Greeks finally won, thanks in large part to Helen's trickery.
