We march on through life's winding track,
With decisions made and paths to take,
And sometimes, doubts that hold us back.
Path dependence, a concept true,
Our future shaped by what we do,
But dwelling on the past, we rue,
Will only lead to feelings blue.
"If only I had bought that stock,
Or married someone else, not Jack,"
But such thoughts are but a fleeting mock,
And lead us down a path of lack.
For life is full of twists and turns,
And what we think we know, we learn,
The alternate fantasy that yearns,
Is but a dream that won't return.
So focus on the present here,
And make each day a new frontier,
