In the summer of 2004, Hunter S. Thompson called Bill Murray at 3 am. Both men are night owls, and Bill quickly answered the phone. On the call, Hunter revealed a "revolutionary sporting idea" to Bill called Shotgun Golf.
The sport required one golfer, one shooter, a field judge, and a 12-gauge shotgun. The sport combines elements of clay pigeon and traditional golf.
