Nale is the daughter of one of the elders of the Suri tribe. I was fascinated by her beauty, dignity and charisma. She was all the time on my side watching me taking pictures, holding my reflector and making sure I am doing ok. I knew she also wanted to be photographed and I waited until the end. I wanted to make it a special "event", where the entire village would watch. I gave her a Polaroid. A few months later I returned to her village to give her the pictures.
We stayed in mosquito tents right in the center of the village near a big fire place. In the night we had several warriors protecting us from the lions we could hear roar in the night.
