What I like about shooting the ocean is that it’s never the same. It’s always in motion. Elements change constantly — the tide, wind and the waves. You can never get tired of it. I like finding myself alone in the face of the expanse of the landscape, I like being in contemplation.
When conditions are ideal, I observe the environment, watching where the waves crash. It’s good when the wind is coming from inland. That creates ripples that are lifted on the surface of the waves. It creates something aesthetically pleasing. When there’s a wind like this, the light gets reflected on this kind of froth, as it’s slightly lifted above the wave...
