Last year, the internet was awash with news of Chukwuemeka Akachi, a poet and writer who died by suicide after ingesting two bottles of a poisonous substance. He was only 20 years old. Although we knew each other, we weren't friends. Through a friend who knew him well -- who even found him the morning he was on the cusp of death -- I got to understand that his mind kept fighting the dark thoughts. This artwork seeks to portray that invisible fight through the changing background. It is a piece that touches on mental health and reminds us to guard ours jealously.
