Stillness, composure, calm - regardless of the circumstance.
This image was taken in the middle of the night during the harsh Canadian Winter. Cold, tough, unforgiving. To make the ice queen come to life a light was used in a dark structure where you can only “enter” when the water freezes over once a year. This particular year posed a challenge and extra risk due to holes in the ice.
Stillness in harsh conditions is a cornerstone of my work. With this image, stillness was not only practiced in the body but in the mind to maintain the vision.
