I grew up with a brother and attended an all boys school and so wasn't exposed to feminism until I got to university where I had a lot of catching up to do. When I was young, I watched the Powerpuff Girls on Cartoon Network where three little girls were superheroes and fought off monsters. It accurately portrayed woman as strong. My favourite Powerpuff was Buttercup who was green in the show but that slightly annoyed me as the buttercup flower is yellow. The Powerpuff Girls are a great example of the positive influence that can come from Pop Culture and they set me up to be open-minded towards feminism when I grew older.
