The climb up was exhausting, nearly 1500 feet to the pinnacle of this elegant structure. At the top I was greeted by two more people taking in the view. Together we watched into the night, breathing in what felt like the only free air in NYC. The wind whistled around us, ushering in a profound silence held only for this sacred realm above the city.
