Over my 50 year career, most of my paintings have been very confrontational, with the figure squarely facing the viewer; perhaps 25% of the paintings were in a 3/4 profile, but only something like 5% have been profiles. Lately, however--largely due to my digital explorations--I have been doing a lot of profiles as easel paintings. As is so often the case, my paintings inspire more digital work, and the things I learn doing the digital pieces inform my labors at the easel.
