Memories are fragmentary, incomplete and often inaccurate. They can sometimes appear surreal and hallucinatory in nature - flitting from one random event to another, into a rabbit hole of past events. They are powerful too.
A canvas, prepped with tissue, putty and blue acrylic hues, for another painting. Suddenly, it reminds me of Monet’s waterlilies, which I’ve not seen for years. And an exploration begins. Firstly, a homage to those masterpieces, but also a journey into my own memories and feelings as i first gazed into those canvases in a magazine as a young boy.
