<p>Being one of the most famous poems ever written, <em>The Raven</em> by Edgar Allan Poe inspired many following writers and was used or referenced in pop culture many times. The poem itself was influenced by works of <em>Charles Dickens</em> and <em>Elizabeth Barrett</em>, mixing mythological, religious, folk and classical elements with complex rhythms. In the poem, a talking raven is sitting a bust, watching a man slowly slipping into madness, because he lost the love of his live. First published in the <em>New York Evening Mirror</em> on January 29, 1845, the poem made <strong>Edgar Allan Poe</strong> popular, but did not bring him much financial success.</p>
