The Nuns Fire encroaches on Highway 12 between Santa Rosa and Sonoma, October 2017 near the hamlet of Glen Ellen. At the height of the Wine Country Fire Siege, the blaze ripped through open space and homes alike, only stopping at vineyards which miraculously acted as firebreaks despite the drought.
