I was one of the very few, out of almost a hundred photographers there, that was allowed to shoot from the the stage during Nirvana's legendary 1992 Reading Festival show, and the only one on Kurt's side. As the band was pounding away in front of me and 45,000 steaming, mud caked fans, I caught a glimpse of Kurt's silhouette on his amp stack. Immediately, Joe Sia's classic photo of Jimi Hendrix silhouetted against his torn amps came to mind, and I knew I had to get that shot.
